Ajo Joy, M.D.​

Dr. Joy is a Board-Certified Neurologist who has been with the practice since 2010. He completed his residency at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). During his time at VCU, he served as Chief Resident and received the Arnold P. Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching award.  Dr. Joy completed a clinical electrophysiology fellowship with training in electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalograph (EEG) at VCU. In addition, he participated in multiple stroke research studies during his training.

After moving to Arizona, Dr. Joy became a member of the stroke team at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.  He is also a Clinical Preceptor teaching medical students from Midwestern University and A.T. Still University.

Principal Investigator

Brian Beck, M.D.​

Dr. Beck is a Board-Certified Neurologist who joined the practice in July 2014 after completing his residency at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ. He is originally from Indiana, and earned a B. S. in chemistry and biology at Butler University prior to getting his M. D. and Ph.D. degrees at Indiana University School of Medicine. He has been involved in stroke, epilepsy, and neuroinfectious disease research during residency, including an oral presentation on coccidioidal meningitis research at the Infectious Disease Society of America national meeting in 2013.  Dr. Beck enjoys seeing the variety of general neurology patients, and has a particular interest in epilepsy and brain trauma/concussion.

He lives in Gilbert with his wife, son and daughter. He enjoys camping, cycling, and playing basketball.

Principal Investigator

Jonathan Hodgson, M.D.​

Dr. Hodgson is a Board-Certified Neurologist with a medical education from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.  He completed his one-year internship at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He then went on to complete his three-year Neurology residency as well as his clinical Neurophysiology fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.  Along with seeing patients at Gilbert Neurology, he has privileges at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and is an adjunct professor at A.T. Still University Medical School in Mesa, AZ.  As the Stroke Director at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, he also gives a variety of lectures to community groups.  He has also been featured repeatedly in the Top Docs issue of Phoenix Magazine.

Dr. Hodgson lives in Gilbert, AZ with his wife, four boys, one daughter, three goats, chickens and ducks. He enjoys traveling, hiking, and participating in triathlons.  He also enjoys going on medical mission trips to Malawi, Africa and Haiti.
